Good Afternoon Everyone. Hope you had a wonderful weekend. In Math we continue to struggle using the standard algorithm for multiplication. I have noticed a couple of important items that might be of help. First, the students MUST know their multiplication facts - so many of them don't and they get frustrated when they make errors. Last, several students have the basics of the algorithm, but get a head of themselves and either don't check their work, or don't really pay attention to what they are putting on paper. So today, we started using the "open array" along with the standard algorithm. The two strategies are similar and come up with the same "line" answers - which is what the kids struggle with.
